Hari itu, Jum’at 25 Juli 2008, setelah subuh tim Beasiswa Perpika untuk Indonesia (BPI) bergegas menuju dermaga Muara Angke, Jakarta Utara untuk mengejar satu satunya sarana transportasi menuju sebuah pulau di gugusan Kepulauan Seribu yang akan bertolak tepat pukul 07.30 WIB. Pulau tersebut tidak lain adalah Pulau Tidung. Lokasinya berada disebelah barat gugusan kepulauan seribu. Konon berdasarkan cerita, pulau ini digunakan sebagai tempat berlindung (tidung) dari serangan penjajah Belanda saat itu, sehingga dinamailah pulau ini sebagai Pulau Tidung. Pulau ini dihuni oleh kurang lebih 4,000 jiwa.
